Adapted from the Original Rules (© to The Red Meadow/Falstaf 2005). Edits by Luath, co-owner.
Please follow the rules and read them completely. If you are found breaking a rule, you will have to face the consequences.
OOC - You abuse it, you lose it! SPAM (Short Pointless Annoying Messages), porn, excessive swearing, chatspeak, or illiteracy lose you your right to post. - Porn will not be tolerated. If you see anyone posting this in words, images, or links, please notify an admin. Graphic mating threads fall under this category. - Constructive criticism is fine, negative comments and insults are not. - Keep in mind that even the most evil characters can be good people in real life. Don't hold grudges over something that happened in a roleplay. - No entering other people's accounts without permission. - If you want to advertise, do so on the appropriate board. - As shocking as it may sound, until this rule is changed there should be no advertising TRM on other sites. - Treat everyone with respect. If you think someone is abusing this site, please notify an admin discreetly, i.e. via PM. - Ask permission before making changes that affect the whole site. Admins need to be notified of deaths, births, new pack members, alliances, wars, etc. Moderators should ask before changing codes, skins, etc.
Accounts
- Post your profile first. It needs to be accepted before you can use the IC boards (nothing too specific, we just want to make sure you're literate). - Be original with your characters. Use your imagination! - Stay away from cliches (another thing we check for). The "evil die die die black wolf who hunts amazingly well, has a pretty mate and no manners" gets old really quickly. So does "I had to leave my home because my whole pack died". - These must be your own characters. You can use names from books but please don't just play the character that goes with the name. Use your imagination. - If your character was separated from his/her family, see if you can get someone to play lost family members. Likewise if you want to play a pup, see before writing your profile if there are any wolves who would play parents. - Only one wolf per account - the bird and wolf can be on the same one. - Sigs and avs should be relevant and feature text or images regarding TRM, your character, or wolves/birds in general. Swearwords in song lyrics are okay. Give credit to writers. Images in your sig can be as tall as you want but please don't make them any wider than 550 pixels because that messes with the board width. Thanks. - Stay active! You don't have to be on 24/7 but try for at least once a week or more.
IC
- This is a realistic RPG. There are no powers, no collars, no strange markings or colors (eyes, however, can be whatever color you want), no wings, horns, jewelery, etc. On the old TRM lots of people were posting, for example "Keeper of Darkness" or "Master of Light" or whatever like that; please, none of those titles here. Same goes for the birds. - OOC threads go in OOC boards except official pack threads (a members list for example. This should be stickied in the pack board). - Proper grammar and spelling is appreciated; there is a spell check in the post page. And if anyone knows its origin, will someone please tell me why people started calling legs pillars, teeth daggers, females feas, eyes orbs, et cetera? It all gets really confusing when you don't use English. No, I'm not forbidding these like many sites do, I'm honestly asking. - Posts must be at least 50 words long, which is really only about this much:
(The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps)
Why say 50 words? Because depending on what resolution you have or how big the monitor is, that looks like more or less. - Please, no swearing. Wolves can't understand humans (or deer or rabbits or anything other than canines and birds), so they wouldn't know these words anyways.
Packs
- You can join a pack at any rank but only with permission from the Alpha(s). Start an IC thread in the pack board to join. - Troublemaking, disrespectful, or lazy wolves can be driven out by the higher ranking members of a pack. This also happens when a pack grows too large (more than 20 or so members). - Alphas can be overthrown; there must be a formal challenge and a fair fight. - Treat your Alphas and high-ranking members with respect.
Fights
- No godmoding or powerplaying will be allowed. This means: 1. You can only control your own character, not your opponent. 2. You can say your attack connected but you can only do this once in a row on your turn. After that, on your next turn, you have to either take a hit you could have dodged, make an attack but leave it up to your opponent whether it connected or not, or make an attack and miss on your own. 3. You can only dodge three attacks in a row, after that the next one needs to connect. This means if you have dodged three blows, your opponent could make a potentially fatal one and you would have to take it. 4. If you're confused, PM me. If you think someone isn't following these rules, send me the url of the thread and the person/people it involves. You shall be thanked lavishly if you are right. - Fights can be held anywhere. - You need the opponent's permission OOC to kill their character, even if you are winning. - If one wolf submits, the other has to stop attacking. This decides the victory. - Please don't make these too graphic. - You can fight over hunts, borders, mates, hate, or for a higher rank, but you need to have a reason.
Hunts
- Be realistic! It takes more than one wolf to bring down large prey. Wolves hunt in packs and are very skilled in doing so. - Birds of prey generally can't kill anything bigger than themselves. They can wound wolves and large prey, but can't kill them. Usually birds stick to small rodents; rabbits, if the bird is particularly large and powerful. Remember that small birds eat berries and worms, not mice. - Prey changes with the seasons, check the updates. - If you're going to be graphic, please put some sort of warning.
Mating, Birthing, Pups
- You are allowed to have a mate, but you must have permission from the Alpha(s) of each wolf's pack. Your wolf must be at least three years old and above Omega rank to have a mate. Threads started by younger members will be deleted. - Remember that wolves don't cry tears, nor do they drop roses at each other's feet. I don't think roses even grow in the middle of forests. - Forcebreeding is allowed. The female's player has no say in this; however, she can fight back and even kill the offending male if she gets the chance. If she doesn't want to keep the pups, she can abandon them or kill them, or have a miscarriage. - With the exception of forcebreeding, usually only Alphas have pups. Generous Alphas or those without mates will sometimes - sometimes - let other couples in the pack mate. - Normal mating is late summer-late fall. Pups are born late winter-spring. Remember that pups born in harsh conditions will probably die. - Cubs without packs probably won't last long. - No "pleasure breeding". Females don't always get pregnant when they mate, but wolves don't do it for fun.
Please check back often. Rules can be updated at any time; there will usually be a reminder in the header table.
